November 19,2020 Added a video about Eva Carroll Monroe and the Lincoln Colored Home. Eva and her family lived in and around Kewanee for around ten years spanning the 1870s. Her father, Richard Carroll, was a former slave and Civil War veteran and was a founding member of Kewanee’s Bethel AME Church. He ran a laundry business and was a porter at the Kewanee House.
