The 1942 Kewanee Fire


The fire started around 1:30 AM on April 13, 1942 at the largest retailer in town, Kewanee Dry Goods, on the East side of the 200 block of Tremont Street in downtown Kewanee.  It destroyed dozens of businesses in the heart of Kewanee’s business district.
