Roger Reiman was a national champion motorcycle racer in the 1960s.
His achievements are shown on the right side of the mural, including induction into the Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame in 1998.
Roger came to Kewanee when his parents purchased the Harley-Davidson dealership. Upon graduation from Kewanee High School in 1956 his racing career was off and running.
The highlight of that career was winning the Daytona 200 three times.
He reduced his racing schedule in 1970 when he took over running the family business. He also became the head mechanic for famous motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel.
Roger kept racing some and in 1997 while practicing for the Daytona Battle of the Legends he was killed in a chain-reaction pile up.
A funeral followed in Kewanee that Star-Courier reporter Dave Clarke called “a moment in Kewanee history with a three-block cortege of motorcycles in a final salute to a fallen hero.”
One of the many who paid tribute to Roger was a fellow Kewanee motorcycle racer Bill Scott who had also won a race at Daytona, the 1959 Daytona 100.
